Abstract
1,096,914. Retractive switches; attracted armature relays. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Sept. 3, 1964 [Sept. 4, 1963], No. 34957/63. Heading H2B. A switch comprises a movable contact member, an operating member movable in a direction normal to the direction of operating movement of the contact member, and an operating link with one end pivotally attached to one member and the other end settable adjustably against two spaced stops on the other member to make the switch normally open or normally closed. Operating member 15, movable manually or electromagnetically, has a slot 16 with ends 21, 22, providing the stops for the adjustably settable operating link 17 attached to a contact spring 14 engageable with a contact spring 11, spring 14 being biased away from spring 11. Spring 14 may be oppositely biased and means (not shown) be provided for securing the pin 20 of link 17 against one of the stops. When operated electromagnetically, several pairs of contact springs may be operated conjointly (Figs. 2, 3, not shown), some being normally open and some normally closed as desired.
