Abstract

324,572. Michelsen, O. C. March 19, 1929. Lamp-failure alarms.- Failure of the rear lamp 13 on a vehicle is indicated by a lamp 9, which also indicates a short circuit. The spring- pressed armature 5 of an electromagnet 3 in the circuit of the lamp 13 is so adjusted by a set-screw 8 that (1) when the magnet is de-energized by the failure of the lamp, the spring presses the armature against contact 7 and lights the indicator lamp 9, and (2) when the current strength is increased by a shortcircuit, the armature closes the circuit of the lamp 9 at contact 6. The iron core 4 of the magnet is provided with an extension 19 of copper or other non-magnetizable material.
