[Class 35] In order to indicate .when the armature of an electromagnet comes into contact with the core a lamp or other indicator is operated by current passing through the core and armature. The Fig. shows the invention applied to an alternating current magnet enclosed in a metal casing 1. On the core 2 is a winding 8 connected at one end to the core and at the other to one terminal of a lamp 11. The other terminal of the lamp is connected through the casing 1 to a rod 6 by which the magnet operates external mechanism, and thus to the core 4. If it be desired to operate an indicator when the magnet is not energized the lamp can be replaced by a relay.
