[Class 40 (i)] [See also Groups XV and XXXIX] The invention comprises means for indicating priority of attainment of a result, e.g. in games, or for isolating the selected one of a number of telephone extensions. For indicating priority of attainment of a result, e.g. in card games, each player is provided with a switch i, Fig. 2, connected to one of the electromagnets a<1> .... a<6>, the cores of which extend radially away from a metallic ball or body c, supported resiliently by a member k, and through openings in a centrally bored block j of insulating material. A battery e has its contacts e<1>, e<2> connected to parts f and g connected to lamps or indicators d and switches i. On energization of one of the electromagnets the ball c is attracted into contact with the corresponding core to complete a circuit for the corresponding lamp or indicator d. The arrangement is such that when the ball c is attracted to one core, subsequent energization of another electromagnet is ineffective to remove the ball c. Fig. 3 shows the application of the invention to telephony, the ball c being connected to the local telephone exchange and resting against the core of the magnet m connected to the main house telephone instrument, and cores of similar magnets n<1> ... n<5> being connected to five extension lines. A call coming through on any of the lines represented by the magnets m, n<1> .... n<5>, causes attraction of the ball c to the corresponding magnet core and it is impossible for the call to be overheard on any of the other lines. Fig. 4 shows a construction in which the ball c is insulated at o from a contact p so that when the ball is attracted by energizing of a magnet the speaking circuit will be completed through the ball support c<1>, the contact p and a lead r, the magnet core not being included in the speaking circuit.
