Abstract

534,910. Electromagnetic switches. CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A., McLOUGHLIN, H. F., and MORGAN, R. W. Nov. 28, 1939, No. 30926. [Class 38 (v)] A contact-carrying rotor c is rotated step-bystep by successive energizations of a low-voltage electromagnet f, the cone e of which is connected to a lever n carrying a pawl d which successively engages pins l on the rotor. The other end of the lever n moves to engage a pin l to stop the rotation of the rotor and a spring-pressed lever r engages another pin to prevent reverse rotation. The rotor carries a contact which bridges contacts k in a high-voltage circuit in alternate positions of the switch. A resistance is also introduced into the circuit when the armature is attracted. In the form shown, the resistance takes the form of a coil which attracts an additional armature pushed up by an insulating member v on the core e, the additional armature being held up after the reduced current in the main coil f has released the core e.
