Abstract
209,459. Stentophone Motor Accessories (1921), Ltd., and Treloggan, A. H. Sept. 13, 1922. Automatic circuit-breakers; switches, actuating.-A switch for controlling the current used for magnetizing permanent magnets has two levers A, B mounted side by side on a common pivot C and each controlled by a spring H, H<1>. The lever B carries a contact D adapted to connect fixed contacts E and the lever B carries a pivoted armature K controlled bv a spring blade N. A catch L is secured to the armature K and so arranged that when the handle G at the lower end of the lever B is depressed the catch L engages a detent M secured to the contact lever A and carries this lever down until contacts E E are joined, thus switching on the magnetizing current and energizing a series electromagnet J. As soon as the current rises to a value corresponding to the strength of the catch spring N the, armature K is attracted, releasing the catch L from the detent M and allowing the spring H to move back the lever B, breaking the circuit at E, E. When utilized for magnetizing the magnets of a "Ford" ignition generator the windings are set correctly in relation to the poles of the permanent magnets and are connected through the switch to a, suitable electric supply. One or a number of impulses are sent through the windings by successively depressing the switch-operating lever. A similar arrangement is employed for magnetizing horsehair magnets, the current passing through the windings of a V-shaped electromagnet, Fig. 5.
