Abstract
178,679. Baumann, K., and Metropolitan - Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd.. March 17, 1921. Blades; nozzles.-Fins 11, 12, formed onstraight portions 10 of blades 8, Fig. 6, fit into saw-cuts in rings or segments 1, 2, Fig. 2. and are welded in position along the surfaces 13, 14; the curved ends of the blades being welded to the rings along their edges 15, 16. The rings 2, 1 have bolt-holes 3, 4 for attaching them to a diaphragm or to an inwardly-projecting rim on the turbine cylinder respectively. Some of the blades may be thickened at their inlet edges 18, Fig. 5, by one of the methods described in Specification 122,323, and the fins may then be continued straight across the blades. The edges of the sawcuts may be bevelled to receive the welding-metal, thus leaving a smooth surface after welding.
