Abstract

Blades.-A turbine blade ring comprises at least two forms of blade having different frequencies of natural vibration, which set up mutual disturbance so that at normal turbine speed the resultant frequency of vibration is no longer dangerous. Figs. 3 and 4 show groups of small taper blades 2 having a strong shrouding 4 alternating with groups of large taper blades 1 having a weak shrouding 3. The shroudings interengage by means of spigots 5 and notches 6. A group consisting of different forms of blade 1, 2 with a strong shrouding 4 may alternate with a similar group having a weak shrouding 3, Fig. 5.
