Air, supplying; fire-bridges.-A portion of the air supplied to a steam-generator or other furnace passes through a pipe a either above or below the grate, the pipe a passing beyond the bridge c and returning to the bridge to discharge heated air through orifices d in the bridge, while the remainder of the air is supplied through an horizontal air-inlet f in the furnace front, and moistened with water vapour from a water bosh g placed on the outside of the furnace front below the air-inlet f.
