Stays.-A door or window holder &c. of the kind in which a curved bar disposed above the door and attached to the door frame carries a pivoted catch adapted to drop behind the door to retain it in the open position comprises the curved bar A attached to the door frame B and partly supported by a straight strut D, and carrying a saddle-shaped sheet-metal member F pivoted thereto at G, Fig. 2. A stop N limits the opening movement of the door. The catch F may be raised in order to release the door by means of mechanism described in Specification 3981/15, which comprises a lever O pivoted to the door, one end of which engages beneath the catch to raise it when the free end is pulled by a cord P, Fig. 1.
