Abstract
171,220. Forgrove Machinery Co., Ltd., and Grover, F. Aug. 28, 1920. Packeting by wrapping-up. -Relates to machines for wrapping rectangular tablets in two separate wrappers. The mechanism for applying the first wrapper is of the kind described in Specification 17309/12. According to the invention, diamond-shaped wrappers are subsequently applied in envelope-like fashion to the preliminarily-wrapped tablet instead of rectangular ones. The outer wrappers 2 are delivered singly from a container box 3. Fig. 7, by the gummed feet 4 of an intermittingly-rotated disc 5 to a position beneath the preliminarily-wrapped tablet 1, Figs. 1 and 8. Both are carried downwards by plungers 6, 7 to the second folding- mechanism, which comprises spring-actuated pivoted members 8 and similar members 9 at a higher level carrying tucker blades 10 adapted to tuck in the wrapper 2 at the corners as shown in Fig. 2, prior to the turning-up of the side flaps. The pivoted members are mounted on oppositelydisposed brackets 15 spaced apart to allow the passage of the plungers. A reciprocable slide 12 and a plate 13 turn up the side flaps when the tablet is brought down to the level of a stationary table 11. The slide then advances, making the fold shown in Fig. 3, and the tablet is thrust beneath the plate 13 by a plunger into a delivery channel 14, completing the packet as shown in Fig. 4, a brush in the delivery channel ensuring adhesion of the final flap.
