Abstract

368,709. Wrapping-machines. ROSE, A. G. and ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd., Albion Works, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. Dec. 3, 1930, No. 36396. [Class 94 (i).] Rectangular packages are delivered from the folding apparatus of a wrapping- machine, which may be as described in Specification 252,216, [Class 94 (i), Packing &c.], to a stacking and delivery magazine in which the folds are pressed into contact and maintained in position until adhesion has been assured by rollers forming part of the walls of the stacking device, and so arranged that at least one roller is always in contact with the packet. All of the walls which are to engage with overlapping gummed portions of the wrappers are so provided. The articles 14, Fig. 2, which may be block-ended packets, as shown in Fig. 1, are fed on to a vertically reciprocable platform 13, which rises and feeds them into position 14 in the magazine, retrogression being prevented by upwardly directed bristles on the lower parts of the sides 16, 17. The side 15 is fixed to the machine, and carries rollers 26, arranged in a vertical series with end pins 28 in grooves 29. The rollers rest on one another and are of such a size with relation to the packet, that there is always at least one roller in contact with the package-end 10. The sides 16, 17 are mounted on brackets 20, 21 pivoted at 23 to the side 15, and carry, in the position above the bristles, vertical series of resiliently mounted rollers 37, 38. The side 18, which is fixed to the machine, carries a similar series of rollers 30. The rollers 30, 37, 38 are not in contact with each other and are each independently mounted on spring-urged frames 33. The sides 16, 17 are normally locked in the closed position by levers 45 engaging in catches on the brackets 20, 21, and either or both may be opened for inspecting the interior of the magazine. The sides 16, 18 are laterally adjustable by means of nuts 42, 43, to vary the size of the internal cross section. Heating elements may be disposed in recesses 50 to ensure adhesion of the flaps 11, 12.
