[Also in Group XVI] In a wrapping machine for folding a carton blank about a group of articles such as cigarette packets, carton blanks are fed from a magazine, in which they are supported on edge, by a suction member and roller means and placed in the path of the group for folding initially about the leading end and top and bottom with final folding by rotary and oscillating devices. The blanks 1 are urged towards the suction and roller feeding means 5, 7 and 8 (see Group XVI) by plates 9 which are ocsillated through slots in the magazine base 4 by eccentric bearings 11. The groups are each fed forward by reciprocating pusher 32 and press the blank between plates 36, 37 so that the panel 34 is engaged by the leading end and panels 70, 71 lie on the top and bottom of the group respectively. End tabs 46 are engaged by portions 48 of rotary folders 44 during a period when these are halted temporarily in the vertical position, and these folders then rotate to fold down tabs 47 after reciprocating tucking elements 38, 41 have laid panels 40, 43 respectively on to the trailing end of the group. The partially wrapped group is moved forward by that succeeding while a member 60 retains the tabs 46, 47 in position and end flaps 50 are partially folded down by plates 59 to the position of Fig. 3. A foot 53 dips in to a bath 58 on each side and rises to apply adhesive to the flaps 50 which are finally folded down by vertically reciprocating plates 49.
