Abstract

789,656. Cartons. LEVKOFF, D. June 13, 1956 [July 12, 1955], No. 18310/56. Class 18. A carton has side and end walls, and a base comprising box section rails folded from extensions of the sides and spaced apart to permit inspection of the underside of the contents. A blank as in Fig. 1 is folded on lines 13, 14 and glue strips 26 are secured to side wall forming portions 1,2. During this folding tabs 15,16 and portions 11, 12 are overlapped and secured by adhesive. End forming portions 4, 7, 11, 12 are folded at right angles to the blank causing partial erection of walls 1, 2. Erection of the walls 1, 2 produces setting up of extensions 23- 25 to form the rails. Tongues 8 are tucked in between tabs 15, 16 and the end walls to hold the carton erect. The strips 26 may be secured to the walls 1, 2 either above or below the extensions 25. In other embodiments, tongues cut from the vertical walls of the rails may .protrude from and be co-planar with the horizontal walls. Articles may be supported by apertures in the rails.
