Abstract
489,935. Wrapping; packeting. ROSE, A. G., and ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. Feb. 6, 1937, No. 453. [Class 94 (i)] In a machine for forming block-ended packages, in which the wrapper is formed into an open-ended pouch about the article, the final end flap folder is movable first into engagement with the final end flap to fold it into the closed positions, and is thereafter movable, while in engagement with the closed flap, in the direction of the forward end of the article to carry it clear of the rear-end folding station. The article 14, which may be a batch of cigarettes, is moved into position over a support in a direction at right-angles to that of the plunger 12, which forces it, with a wrapper 17, into a folding box 19 wherein the wrapper is applied to the front end, top and bottom, and opposed sides of the article. On arrival at the rear-end folding station 16, side tuckers form the narrow end flaps and a folder 26 folds down the top broad end flap. The final end flap is folded up on to the end of the package by a member 28 rising vertically. The member then moves horizontally to push the packet in a path which is a continuation of the path of the plunger 12 on to a support 29, then descends and returns to its original position in the path p. The package is supported during the end folding by a movable stop 20, which rises when the member starts to move to the left. The movement of the member 28 is obtained by means of two bell-crank levers 37, 38 and 51, 52 connected to it by links 34, 53, one end running in a guide 33.
