Packeting by wrapping-up.-Relates to machines for wrapping rectangular and other bodies in tin foil, and of the kind in which the bodies are fed forward by an intermittently rotated disc on to the top of a vertical plunger, which forces each body, with a wrapper, through a dilatable aperture which commences the folding operations. The articles to be wrapped are placed in recesses 16 in the rim of the intermittently rotated disc 8. Fig. 3, and are brought in turn above a plunger 31, Figs. 3 and 6, and beneath a tubular brush 36. Foil &c. is fed from a roll 26, Fig. 1, by rollers 25 and is severed by knife 28 into wrappers. Reciprocating suction tubes 34 advance each wrapper 67 into position between the plunger 31 with its superposed article 66 and the brush. The plunger than rises and carries the article and the wrapper through the brush and between grippers 49 which are momentarily opened against the action of springs 47 to receive them. The grippers are mounted to rotate about a shaft 43, Fig. 3, and are adapted to be opened at the required moments by a cam-operated wedge 51. Upon the arrival between the grippers 49 of the article partially wrapped, as shown in Fig. 6, by the passage through the brush, a folding blade 54 makes the first bottom fold. At the next position of rest, a similar blade 60 makes the second bottom fold, and the two final bottom folds are made during the next movement by the passage of the article over a suitably shaped folding plate 64. At the next position, the jaws are opened and the wrapped article falls into a delivery trough 65.
