Abstract

Valves.-Combustible mixture is drawn through a part-annular grid-shaped suction-actuated lift valve 41 into a pump space 16, from which compressed charges are delivered to a reservoir x through a valve 42 similar in construction to the valve 41. The chamber 23 leading to the cylinder inlet ports 23<1>, the chamber 24 into which the exhaust ports 24<1> open, and the chamber 24a through which charges pass to the pump space are subdivided by vertical partitions 29, 30 as shown in Fig. 3. The chamber 23 is separated from the chambers 24<a> by vertical walls 31, 32, adjacent which are flanges 23<a> by which the chambers are connected together.
