Abstract

Folding boxes; corner joints.-In a collapsable crate or case made from sheet metal &c., two sides C, D, Fig. 3, are hinged directly to the bottom E, and the front A and back B are hinged to short flanges F projecting upwards from the bottom, the back B being jointed horizontally half-way up. A flanged lid K hinged to the back B encloses the part A - - D when they are turned down to lie over the bottom E. The sides C, D have narrow flanges adapted to engage grooves formed at the edges of the parts A, B, the receptacle being maintained erect by metal clips P passed through slots in the parts A - - D. In another arrangement, Fig. 1, all four parts A - - D are jointed half-way up and are hinged at such heights above the bottom of the box that they will ford over one another, the box being maintained in its erect condition by rods N slidably engaging turned-over edges of the parts A - - D.
