Abstract
157,486. Rand, F. R., and Rand & Co., Ltd., F. R. June 25, 1919. Knock-down boxes; lids; fittings, internal.-A collapsable box, crate, bin, &c. has two opposite sides hinged to the bottom, and its other sides c, d are hinged to plates or brackets b upstanding from the bottom, so that all four sides can fold inwards over the bottom. The pivots c<1> of the side c, d may be movable in slots c<2>, or strips pivoted to the brackets b and to the sides c, d may be employed, thus enabling the sides c, d to move inwards so that they rest wholly over the bottom member when the box is collapsed. The sides may be secured in the upright position by spring catches e or the like. The lid may be hinged or be separately formed, and may be secured by means of screws a<1> engaging plates b<1>, b<2>, which are secured, respectively, to the lid and to the box side. Spacing-members for holding the ends of bottles &c. may slidably or otherwise be secured to the parts c, d, and a vertical spacing-member may be removably secured across the middle of the box.
