Breech actions, sliding breech-block; sliding barrel and breech-block; stocks.-A recoil buffer comprises a screw-threaded plunger and nut, the plunger being arranged in the path of a part of the gun sliding under the recoil. In the construction shown, the plunger 10 projects into the path of the sliding bolt carrier 30. The nut 12 is fixed in a casing 13 mounted in the stock 27, and the plunger 10 is adapted to rotate. The plunger is pressed forwards by a light spring 19. In a modification, the nut rotates and the plunger slides without rotating.
