Breech actions, hinged breech-block; barrels.- Guns fitted with standard Martini actions are converted for use with large-bore shot cartridges by assembling the barrel so that it is tilted slightly downwards relatively to the face of the breech action, whereby the axis x, x of the barrel is brought into or approximately into the same plane as the axis of the hinge-pin p of the breechblock.
