Abstract

Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-The removable breech-slide of an automatic pistol is guided and retained at the rear by the abutment of the striker spring, which abutment can be displaced to allow the slide to be removed. In the construction shown, the slide 3 is guided at the front by a bridge-piece 41 sliding in a groove between the barrel and frame 1, and at the rear by the striker spring abutment 46, which has a head 47 fitting in a cylindrical boring in the slide. The abutment is fixed to a piston 48 mounted in a recess in the frame, and can be withdrawn a short distance, as shown in Fig. 2, to free the slide, which can then be tilted upwards and removed forwardly. The abutment is retained in the closed position by a spring catch 49.
