Abstract
171,656. Declaye, J. April 27, 1921. Breech actions, sliding breech-block; sights.- Relates to automatic pistols of the kind having a breech-slide, enclosing the barrel and return spring, closed at the front by a removable ring which forms the abutment for the spring. According to the invention, the closing ring is in the form of a sleeve fitting over the front of the slide and maintained in position by the action of the return spring. In the construction shown, the sleeve 4 is secured on the slide 2 by a bayonet-joint comprising studs 5, 6 on the sleeve fitting grooves 8, 9 on the slide, the grooves terminating in locking recesses 17, Fig. 1, into which the studs are pressed by the return spring. Grooves 12, 13, Fig. 7, along the tops of the slide and sleeve indicate when the sleeve is in its locked position and also form the sight.
