Abstract
501,386. Automatic firearms. BRONDBY, F. N. April 21, 1938, No. 12032. Convention date, April 28, 1937. [Class 119] A gas-operated reloading mechanism for automatic firearms comprises, as a combination, a channel 3 entering the barrel 1 at an acute angle with the part of the barrel axis to the rear of the channel, and a gas cylinder 4 of such comparatively large volume that the barrel is substantially exhausted of combustion products by the ejector action of the gases flowing back from the gas cylinder through the muzzle. A suitable volume for the gas cylinder is stated to be approximately one half the volume of the barrel.
