Abstract

A recoilles weapon has a sleeve (a) mounted in the end of the shell (C), forming an extension to it, through which a part of the combustion gases from the propellant charge (b) is emitted to the rear, the rearmost portion (e) being suitably funnel shaped. The junction between the funnel end and the remainder of the sleeve may be shaped so that lugs (9) are incorporated, formed as e.g. segments which engage segmented recesses at the rear of the barrel (h) so that the sleeve may be locked by a part of a turn. In this way a conventional breech is not required.
