Abstract

1,098,020. Recoilless weapons. DIRECTOR GENERAL OF FÍRSVARETS FABRIKSVERK. May 19, 1966 [June 22, 1965], No. 22261/66. Heading F3C. A recoilless weapon comprises a firing tube 6 having housed therein a high pressure chamber 5 formed with a plurality of exhaust openings 4 and being, at its rear end, shaped as or provided with a gas exhaust nozzle 9. The chamber 5 is connected to the firing tube 6 by means of a rupturable damming washer 10 and spaced therefrom by centring members 7, 16 in the form of fin wreaths, the rear member 7 abutting a constriction 14 in the firing tube 6 through a metal annular member 8. The chamber 5 is connected at its forward end through a rupturable means, e.g. a pin 2, to an aerodynamically steered projectile 1 and is further provided at its rear end with a rupturable damming washer 13. On firing the charge in the high pressure chamber 5, the blast breaks the pin 2 and also the rupturable damming washers 10, 13. In a modification a further centring member is mounted on the nozzle 9 of the high pressure chamber 5, this centring member together with the rear centring member clamping the construction (14, Fig. 2, not shown).
