Abstract

1,158,612. Gas seal. OLIN MATHIESON CHEMICAL CORP. 13 March, 1967 [28 March, 1966], No. 11599/67. Heading F3C. A firearm has a breech gas seal device comprising a Belleville washer 19 positioned between the bolt 18 and the end wall of a barrel chamber 19 provided for a round "C" of caseless ammunition. As shown, the washer is positioned in a counterbore 13 in which it may be secured by welding or by an inwardly protruding continuous bead or protrusions. In another embodiment the washer is provided with a circumferential skirt which enters an annular undercutting in the counterbore. In a further embodiment no counterbore is provided, the washer being secured by a cap engaging the rear end of the barrel.
