Abstract

1,129,303. Automatic firearms. OERLIKONBUHRLE HOLDING A.G. 20 Oct., 1965 [20 Oct., 1964], No. 44431/65. Heading F3C. An automatic firearm is provided with an exchangeable barrel 10 locked in a receiver 14 as by a bayonet joint 12 and a pin 13 and the connection between the gas-bleed passage in the barrel and a drillway in the receiver 14 contains an axially perforated obturating piston 19. In use the obturating piston is urged against the outer surface of a barrel insert 21 by expanding gas in a part 28 of the drilling in the receiver 14 downstream of the piston 19. The drillway is further provided with a regulating needle 30. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) a hard metal obturating member is provided between the obturating piston and a regulating needle of a different type from that shown in Fig. 1.
