A firearm in which a belt of rounds is fed from a non-elevating magazine through a channel through a trunnion 2 on an elevating part of the firearm has the outer end of the channel, which is in the form of two oppositely disposed sectors of 90 degrees, connected by guiding walls as at 5, 6 and 7 to an oblong slit 4 at its inner end the slit allowing a round to pass only if its axis is positioned parallel with the direction of ramming.
