Abstract

602,322. Guns. BLACKER, L. V. S. May 18, 1944, No. 25062. Divided out of Complete Specification of 602,304. [Class 92 (ii)] Relates to semi-automatic breech-loading guns or missile projectors of the kind in which both the barrel and the breech-block slide relatively to a fixed casing and to each other upon release from cocked positions in which they are independently held, and in which firing takes place before the end of the run-out stroke. According to the invention the barrel 15 is telescopically mounted in and guided by a forward extension 13 of the breechblock 12. As shown, the extension 13 has two slots 19 over the greater part of its length to enable the extension to pass stops 17 on the breech casing 1, to permit the passage of outwardly projecting lugs on the barrel and to enable a missile to be inserted in the breech chamber. The details of the gun are the same as those described in Specification 602,304.
