Abstract

836,796. Automatic firearms. DIPAG Ltd. June 7, 1956 [June 9, 1955], No. 17640/56. Class 119 Relates to weapons which fire alternatively cartridges of high or low power which are the same length, where an automatic firearm has an inertion-locked breech assembly comprising a breech bolt 4 and a breech-block 6 with spring buffer 9a and return spring 7 that can recoil a distance of at least two-thirds of the length of the standard cartridge for the weapon beyond the cartridge feed opening. The breech-block 6 carries the stuber and is linked to the breech-bolt 4 by interlocking lugs 4a and 6a. When the breech closes the breech-block is locked temporarily to the breech support 2 by rollers 5 which enter recesses 2a when displaced by the sloped surface 6b on the nose of the breech-block. The surface 6b also causes the breech-block to recoil ahead of the bolt when the rollers 5 are displaced from the recesses 2a due to pressure from the cartridge bore on firing. The buffer 9a is of disc springs and carries a rod supporting the spring and extending through a hole 10a in a plate 10 into the stock. The buffer stop 9 only comes metalto-metal with the plate 10 when the more powerful of the weapons cartridges is used.
