Abstract

201,394. Charbonnier, P. J. July 22, 1922. Ordnance breech mechanism. - A breech-block of the kind which is rotatable about transverse horizontal trunnions 6 to engage its front and rear surface of revolution 4, 5 with the gun breech, is prevented from jamming during opening by arranging the axis of its frcnt surface slightly above, and the axis of its rear surface slightly below the axis of the trunnions. The trunnions which are supported laterally by springs 13, are also supported on blocks 11 which pivot on knife-edges against the action of springs 12 when a shot is fired. The breech-block has a loading opening 14 in align. ment with the bore when the breech is open.
