Abstract

167,946. Elverson, A. J. H., and Elverson, J. H. July 6, 1920. Spray carburettors. -Fuel is supplied from an annular float chamber 1 to an annular channel 11 in the wall of the choke tube 2. an annular chamber 6 heated by exhaust gases or hot water being interposed between the float chamber and the channel. The port of the channel 11 is covered by a ring 12 of tightly wrapped gauze or like atomizing-matorial, and the lip 13 of the channel is a little higher than the petrol level. The fuel passes from the float chamber to the channel through inclined passages 9 which traverse the heating-chamber 6 and are provided with needle valves 10. A slow-running nezzle 14 supplied with fuel by a siphon tube 16 and controlled by a needle valve 17 is provided adjacent the throttle 15. The float 3 is hinged to an arm 4 which can be adjusted vertically from outside the carburettor to vary the fuel level.
