Liquid-fuel furnaces.-A front for liquid fuel furnaces has a substantially circular air pocket between the front and back plates with a substantially tangential air-inlet passage at its periphery and formed with a circuitous air-preheating passage from the inlet to the flame area. In the form shown in Fig. 5, a tangential inlet passage 1 controlled by a valve 6 leads into a pocket which forms, with the inner plate 7, a spiral passage for the air to the air cylinder 9. A number of internal deflecting walls may be arranged with the same object, an example being shown in Fig. 9.
