Abstract
455,340. Combustion chambers. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES., Untert³rkheim, Stuttgart, Germany. March 30, 1936, No. 9374. Convention date, April 1, 1935. [Class 7 (iii)] In a pre-combustion chamber having a heat accumulating part, formed by a concentration of material, disposed at the throttled connection or in the chamber adjacent the throttled connection, a partition is provided to screen the heat accumulating part from the fuel jet issuing from the nozzle c. The heat accumulating part may be formed by thickening the bottom of the chamber or as shown, by a core-piece f carried by a disc e and surrounded by rings g, h of holes. The central imperforate part of the partition l prevents fuel striking the core-piece f, and both the partition and the disc e are carried by a cup-like member d which is provided on its outer surface with heat insulating spaces. The fuel jet passes through a looped ignition wire n which is used for starting.
