Abstract

152,978. Renault, L. Oct. 21, 1919, [Convention date]. Disk wheels; double and multiple wheelsarranged side by side.-Disk wheels 1 are secured on the hub by a cap or nut 8 having an undercut. face 9 by which the pressure of the nut is exerted at a point such that the wheel disk is free to move axially, and the resiliency of the disk acts to lock the nut. In the construction illustrated the inner edge of the disk bears on a shoulder 7, which may, however, be dispensed with. The disk is connected to a flange 1 on the hub, which may carry the brake drum by means of studs 5 having a conical shoulder 5<1> adapted to engage countersunk holes in the flange. In a modification, a single or twin disk wheel 1, with a large central opening as described in Specification 150,982, is held on a step 12 on the hub flange by means of a plate 10 which carries studs 5 passing through holes in the wheel disk and hub flange, and is secured against the shoulder 7 by a cap or nut 8 having an undercut face 9.
