Abstract

152,538. Parker, W. R. Nov. 25, 1919. Spray carburettors.-The carburettor nozzle is of the kind described in Specification 116,792, in which the fueltube is enclosed in a casing to which air is admitted, the fuel being delivered througt a series of lateral capillary passages in the head of the fuel-tube into a series of air passages connecting the interior of the casing with the nozzle orifice. The nozzle comprises a body-member a and a fueltube b readily detachable therefrom, the stem of the fuel-tube b being formed with external grooves b<6> leading to the air passages b<5> into which fuel is delivered through the capillary-passages b<8>, and the body-member a being chambered internally to enclose the head of the fuel-tube and to provide an air space a<9> connecting the air-supply passage a<8> with the grooves b<6>. The air-supply passage a<8> may be open to the atmosphere, may be supplied with air under pressure, or may be fitted with a two-way valve so that compressed or atmospheric air may be supplied alternatively. The air passages b<5> may be of Venturi formation. The body-member a may be provided with lugs a<1>, a<2>, either or both of which may be formed with a seating d for the attachment of a pilot or auxiliary nozzle. Specification 152,404 is referred to.
