Abstract

1485086 Lifting ships INSINOORITOIMISTO INNOTEC OY 27 Feb 1975 [6 March 1974] 8333/75 Heading B7S A method of lifting a ship stuck on, e.g. a reef, comprises placing flexible bags 3 under the ship and inflating them with water pressurized at 0À4 to 0À8 atmosphere, e.g., by the ships own pumps, until the ship is lifted clear of the reef, and can be moved, e.g., by its own engines. The bags can be formed from plastics, plastics reinforced with glass fibres, rubber, or plasticized cloth. The outer surface of a bag can be treated to reduce friction. A bag can function with a rolling motion.
