Abstract

1383309 Scavenging vessel PHIL GILLARD & SON Ltd 12 April 1972 [11 June 1971] 27517/71 Heading B7A [Also in Division E1] Each section 11 of a boom structure 10 comprises a float portion 12 and a keel 14 arranged so that the section floats vertically. The sections are pivotally connected together by links 15 and joints 16 and flexible bellows 22 seal the gap between adjacent boom sections. In the embodiment shown scavenging vessel 41 has a boom structure 10 extending from each side of the hull. At its end adjacent the vessel each boom structure has a buoy 30 which is attached by ropes to the vessel. The buoy is cylindrical and has a cushion 30a of rubber at each end. Ballast 32 can be fed as required through loading plug 31.
