Abstract

1447670 Pontoons WALCON Ltd 17 Dec 1974 [17 Sept 1973] 43432/73 Heading B7A A pontoon or pontoon structure has a concrete deck section D with parts, e.g. beams 2, that are subjected to tension reinforced by wires or rods, and parts that are not subjected to tension, e.g. the deck portions, reinforced with fibres, e.g. of polypropylene. Hardwood fenders 4 are fitted to each side of the deck. In Fig. 10, not shown, the fenders extend down the full depth of the side of the pontoon. Adjoining deck sections can be connected by flexible blocks (7), Fig. 7, not shown. In Figs. 11, 14, not shown, the decks or pontoons are connected by tensioned chains or cables 15.
