Abstract

1,156,008. Plastics elements for boat building. ELTRO G.m.b.H. & CO. 22 July, 1966 [11 Aug., 1965], No. 33188/66. Heading B7A. A boat hull is built by the brickwork-like joining together of horizontal rows of structural elements made of fibre-reinforced plastics in the form of sections having parallel flanges and/or webs, the structural elements in each row extending in alignment with said flanges or webs extending in the longitudinal direction of the hull and supplementing each other to form continuous longitudinal ribs and/or a continuous keel. The structural element 1 shown in Fig. 1 has a web 2 and flanges 3 and may be filled in, or be subdivided by webs 4 and the cavities filled in, with hard cellular plastics material. The ends may be provided with timber blocks (Fig. 3, not shown). The element 1 in Fig. 2 consists exclusively of webs 2 and fillings 5. The elements are curved and built into the hull in rows and staggered like brickwork, and longitudinal bearers may be provided (Fig. 4, not shown).
