Abstract

1,089,320. Reducing draught. ESSO RESEARCH & ENGINEERING CO. July 29, 1966, No. 34133/66. Headings B7A and B7S. The draught of a vessel 12 is reduced by placing thereunder a flexible supporting structure 3 such as a net of nylon ropes having connected thereto at least two inflatable flexible watertight floats 4, 5, 6, 7 positioned so that they are capable of being separated from one another, the structure being attached to a marine vessel 1 e.g. to a rotatable drum 2 on the vessel. The vessel may have a source 10 for supplying compressed gas to the floats via tube or tubes 11. The draught-reducing device comprising the marine vessel 1, the flexible structure 3 and the floats 4, 5, 6, 7 includes two buoys 8, 9 each attached to a float or to the structure in the vicinity of a float.
