Abstract

1,271,859. Subaqueous dwellings. MAKAI RANGE Inc. 27 Aug., 1969 [5 Nov., 1968], No. 42707/69. Heading E1H. A mobile undersea-dwelling for divers includes parallel bodies 15, 16 with compartments 40..44 for buoyancy and ballasting purposes, these bodies being coupled to each other by tubes 17, 18, a deck structure 30 and a structure comprising compartments 10, 11, 12 for personnel, the tubes being floodable to afford extra ballasting. Gas cylinders 31 are used to "blow" the compartments 40..44 and tubes. A port for a diver is provided in the bottom of each of the compartments 10, 11, 12. A weight (35), Fig. 6 (not shown), can be lowered by a winch (37) between the bodies 15, 16 to facilitate submergence and mooring of the dwelling. The bodies 15, 16 may carry thrusters for manoeuvering purposes and propulsion devices to effect removal of the dwelling to and from the site when surfaced.
