Abstract

1,169,270. Floating storage and loading vessel. CONTINENTAL OIL CO. 18 Dec., 1967 [11 Jan., 1967], No. 57393/67. Headings B7A and B7S. [Also in Division E1] A method of converting a ship bulk 82 having a bow 86 and a stern 88 and a bulkhead 96 between the bow and the stern and a storage space 84, to a floating storage comprises (a) removing the bow plates and hull supporting framework between the bow and the bulkhead and between the keel and a point above the water line of the bulk when fully loaded; (b) mounting a swivel anchoring and conduit structure such as 130 and 34 respectively of Fig. 4 on the deck of the bulk over the portion where the bow plates and supporting framework have been removed; and (c) connecting a conduit 38 from the swivel structure to the storage in the bulk. In a further embodiment the swivel anchoring and conduit structure is fitted in the stern instead of in the bow.
