Abstract
1,216,629. Buoys. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE DES PETROLES S.A. 10 June, 1969 [8 Oct., 1968], No. 29355/69. Headings B7A and B7S] In a buoy comprising a buoyancy chamber 1 open at its bottom and having a valve 6 for linking the chamber to a source of gas under pressure or to atmosphere, first anchor cables 11 can be passed to clamping blocks 12 through cable guides 8 distributed on the buoy at an upper level and second anchor cables 11 can be passed to further clamping blocks 12 through cable guides 9 on the buoy at a lower level. In the embodiment shown the buoyancy chamber is located below an upper buoyancy chamber which may be filled with gas and/or a foamed buoyancy substance. Cables 11 are coupled to main anchor cables 21 attached to anchor weights 20 on the sea bed and, on being wound by drum 17 and then clamped, are maintained under tension by the buoy.
