Abstract

1,094,883. Protecting hulls. N. TONKIN. Sept. 16, 1966 [Sept. 16, 1965], No. 41549/66. Heading B7S. The underwater portion of the hull of a moored ship 6 is protected from marine organisms by enveloping it in a substantially impervious shroud 5 of pliable sheet material. The shroud, e.g. of a plastics material such as polythene, has weights 7 and floats 8 at its edges, and is drawn under the hull and secured around it by draw cords 16, water trapped between the shroud and the hull being removed by a hose 18 connected to a pump 19.
