Abstract

146,721. Wakefield, C. E. July 8, 1919. Wrenches.-In a wrench of the kind described in Specification 15826/84, and comprising a shank having a head formed with a fixed jaw and a rack, and a movable jaw having a bifurcated part embracing the head and teeth to engage the rack, the movable, jaw is pivoted to the head and a frictional device, such as a coiled spring, is arranged between the pivot of the movable jaw and the rack to prevent accidental disengagement of the teeth. The movable jaw f has arms g embracing the head a and connected to it by a pivot j slidable in a slot k. The jaw f has teeth h engaging a rack d on the head, and accidental disengagement of the teeth is prevented by a coiled spring m mounted in an opening l in the head a and bearing against the arms g. The head may be graduated as shown to indicate the jaw openings corresponding to nuts of different sizes, the jaw f having an index n in line with the jaw face.
