Abstract

190,349. Roche, P. Nov. 30, 1921. Rigid-jaw ratchet wrenches.- A ratchet wrench comprises a hollow handle 6 with a head 7 in which is rotatably mounted a cylindrical jaw member 1 having at its ends polygonal sockets 3, 4 for nuts of different sizes and provided at its centre with a series of holes 5 adapted to be engaged by the bevelled end 9 of a spring-pressed actuating-rod 8 located within the handle. The jaw member 1 is shouldered at 2 to shut the head 7 and may be retained in position by any suitable means, such as a circular spring 20 engaging a groove 22 in the member 1 and secured at 21 to the handle. The rod 8 is supported in actuating position by a spring 14 acting between a shoulder 13 on the rod and a part 15 threaded into the handle 6, and is held in position for actuating the jaw in either direction by means of a terminal button 10 having projections 11 engaging notches 12 in the handle.
