Abstract

212,046. Calder, D. B. Jan. 30, 1923. Rigid-jaw wrenches.-In a box wrench of the type comprising a bar adapted to form the operating arm and a portion of the box, and a complementary box portion co-operating with the bar, the parts being adapted to be assembled laterally of the nut &c. to be turned, the complementary box portion is arranged to engage the bar at two spaced points. The bar d is provided with a V-shaped notch c which, in conjunction with a substantially V-shaped member a, forms a hexagonal nut-receiving aperture. Slots bare provided m the member a for the passage of the bar d and notches e are preferably formed in the bar to receive the arms of the member a which may be sprung into position. The inner end of the member a may be hinged to the bar and the member may be in several parts hinged together. A single bar may be used with a number of U-members of different sizes corresponding notches e being formed in the bar.
