Abstract

183,628. McAliece, P. H. May 17, 1921. Pin and like wrenches.- Wrenches of the kind fitted with curved arms formed with projections as 3 for engaging slots in the periphery of a round nut, or pins as 10 for engaging spaced apertures in the nut, are constructed with the curved arms formed of two or more parts 1, 4, jointed together by means of pivots 2 and adapted to embrace one-half or less than one-half of the nut, so that the curved part may be conformed to the cylindrical surfaces of nuts of different sizes. The parts 1, 4 are preferably pressed together by a helical spring 6, or by a spring of other form such as a bowed spring. In a modification, the part 4, Fig. 7, is fitted with an adjustable curved part 9, which renders the spanners more readily adjustable to nuts of different sizes. Two or more pivots 2 may be provided around the arc-shaped parts.
